Lake Garda’s majestic shores are home to some of the country’s prettiest towns and most wedding-worthy castles. When it comes to your photos, it’s the stuff of wedding dreams. Our Lake Garda wedding locations are some of the most idyllic settings for your ceremony – here’s where you can tie the knot on the water.
Bardolino is a picture-perfect collection of cobbled streets, restaurants and waterfront wine bars (ideal for the post-ceremony toast). Weddings take place in the town hall, overlooking the colourful harbour and the glassy lake beyond. The light-filled ceremonial room has a lake-view balcony that’s a lovely spot for pictures.
Bardolino Town Hall capacity: 12 seated and 35 standing.
We recommend Hotel Caesius Thermae & Spa Resort for a Bardolino wedding reception and stay. Located just outside the resort, it features tranquil gardens and a superb spa for pre-wedding day pampering.
For a real fairytale wedding, ceremonies in Malcesine take place at the medieval castle Castello Scagliero. Make your way up to the castle through the narrow streets for wedding photos to remember; the ceremony itself is conducted in beautifully furnished rooms or, weather permitting, outside on the lake-view terrace.
Malcesine Castle capacity: 30 people seated and 20 standing.
In Malcesine, the Hotel Val di Sogno perches at the edge of the lake, with breathtaking views of the water and beautiful landscaped gardens. Alternatively, the Hotel Excelsior Bay is popular for its spacious lakefront terrace, which hosts live music in summer and is ideal for the toasts.
The historic town of Garda is known for its traditional cobbled streets, sophisticated cafes and mile-long promenade along the water’s edge. Weddings take place in the town hall, located in the heart of Garda just metres away from the water and surrounded by a choice of local restaurants to host your reception.
Palazzo Carlotti, Garda capacity: 30 seated and 10 standing.
The family-run Hotel Garden is a great choice in Garda, where you can enjoy peaceful gardens and panoramic views of the lake.
To the north of the lake lies Riva del Garda, a medieval walled town with a spectacular 14th-century castle and picturesque harbour. Ceremonies take place in the town hall, and once you’ve said your vows, you can step out into the waterfront piazza for wedding photos.
Comune Di Riva del Garda capacity: 12 seated and 12 standing.
For a Riva del Garda wedding, stay at Hotel du Lac et Du Parc, idyllically positioned within its own huge park. We also love the stylish Hotel Kristal Palace, with a panoramic roof terrace that overlooks the lake and nearby mountains.
This little town in Lake Garda is a hidden gem, snuggled within original medieval walls and surrounded by a dramatic fortress. With a traditional, undiscovered feel, Lazise is the perfect backdrop for a smaller, intimate wedding ceremony, in a spectacular waterfront setting for your wedding album. Ceremonies are held in the historic, antique-filled town hall.
Lazise town hall capacity: 40 guests.
For your reception and stay, we recommend Hotel Corte Valier for its fabulous lake-view terrace, contemporary design and the Laguna Wellness Centre & Spa – just the thing for the post-wedding wind-down.
On the western banks of Lake Garda, Gardone is one of the region’s prettiest resorts. Its peaceful location and lovely lakeside promenade are perfectly set-up for wedding pictures, with a historic centre filled with fascinating piazzas, gardens and water features, including the botanical Heller Gardens. You’ll exchange vows in the town hall, with its grand marble staircase and historic décor.
Gardone town hall capacity: 50 guests.
The spectacular 300-metre terrace at Grand Hotel Gardone was made for toasts and long, leisurely weddings breakfasts. It’s an elegant and historic hotel, which first opened its doors in 1884 and counts Winston Churchill among esteemed former guests.
