Top Tip

Immerse yourself in the history that is Italy. Take the time to explore and try the foods (pizza and pasta) and drinks (Limoncello and wines) and always pack comfortable shoes, walking is the best way to get around.

Q & A

1. What was your most memorable holiday meal?

The Cacio e Pepe from Il Barroccio Roma, it’s a really simple pepper dish. I saw these videos online and I thought, right, time to try it in the home of Italian cuisine. It was such a hot day in Rome so it was perfect. Light and paired beautifully with a glass of wine.

2. What is the best thing about being in Italy?

To learn is to travel. There is so much history, amazing people, and culture. It’s like a melting pot. You never stop learning — from food and wine to olive oil and bread, to name a few.

3. Where would you love to go next, and why?

The Italian Lakes, like Garda, Maggiore and Como. I would love to experience it first-hand and get to know the different areas. I think getting to experience places is really great for offering customers the best advice on any destination. Taormina is also on the bucket list. After watching The White Lotus, it is definitely up there for places I would love to visit.

4. Do you prefer visiting cities, coast or countryside, and why?

All of them, especially the Neapolitan Riviera. We went there recently and I just fell in love with it. It’s made up of Sorrento, Ischia, Naples, Capri, and the Amalfi Coast, so it's full to the brim with incredible places. I’ve been seeing the Neapolitan Riviera on Instagram for quite a while, and let me say that being there and actually seeing it, the photos don’t do it justice! Everything, from the food and clear waters to watching the massive yachts pull up. It really is as incredible as it sounds. Also, if you’re looking to explore more than one destination, getting to some of Italy’s must-sees is really convenient. You just hop on a boat and off you go on a day trip.

My favourites

A view of the coast of Sorrento, with a classic building on the right, and mountains in the background
Sorrento Holidays
Sorrento for where it is, it’s a great base for an Italian holiday. You fly into Naples, most of the hotels are within walking distance of the best sights, and it’s got one of the biggest ports, so getting around to other areas like Capri, Naples, Ravello, and Ischia is really convenient. Sorrento is also positioned on a cliff, the views are absolutely incredible.

Grand Hotel Royal, Sorrento
Grand Hotel Royal in Sorrento is situated on a cliff, offering some of the best views of the coast. The food and service are sensational, definitely on my top Italy hotel list.
