Experience a stay like no other at the distinguished Borgo Pantano, a beautiful manor farm erected over 150 years ago and restored in 2009. The hotel is in the peaceful area of Cozzo Pantano, roughly 7km outside the inner city of Syracuse. The attention to detail exuding from the building reveals the passion and knowledge the owners have of the area, making it obvious the property is family run. The Borgo Pantano is split into two sections, with both sets of rooms encapsulating the bucolic charm of south east Sicily with its choice in minimalist design and locally sourced furniture, manufactured by Sicilian artisans. Guests can enjoy strolls through the verdant green gardens, whilst stopping to take a dip in the large swimming pool. Given the clear show of appreciation for Sicilian culture and heritage, it is no surprise that the hotel can organise a shuttle service to Syracuse centre; here you can gain a further understanding of the origins surrounding this diverse island by visiting some of the top attractions, like the Greek Theatre.
The hotel has 32 rooms (official rating 4 star). Minimum stay 3 nights during July and August.

Borgo Pantano, near Siracusa, is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens, perfect for relaxing with a variety of chairs and loungers, shade and sunshine….whatever your preference. The main pool is delightful, very clean and well maintained. Our room was perfect, comfortable bed, plenty of space.and kept immaculately clean by housekeeping staff. The restaurant serves an excellent menu, produced by a talented team in the kitchen. Breakfasts are something else too! You will want for nothing in the morning.
However what makes this place really outstanding is the staff….the whole team, lead by the owner Josie. (Sorry Josie, that probably isn’t spelt correctly!) Everyone was friendly and welcoming, smiles in abundance and always willing to help. They all made our stay one of the best ever, one we shall not forget, especially the birthday celebrations in the restaurant……a very happy and memorable evening.
Thank you all for making our holiday…..it couldn’t have been a better place to stay and we will be back.

We came back from a week's stay in the Hotel Borgo Pantano, in Siracuse. Sicily earlier this week. We have never been to Sicily before and had no idea what it would be like. The Borgo Pantano turned out to be beyond our wildest expectations.
Immediately we stepped in the door we received the warmest of welcomes from the two young ladies on reception. That welcome continued throughout our stay from Guisi the lovely lady owner, the waiters, the chefs and every employee at all levels in and around the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble to any one of them. The breakfast tables looked like a banquet and the evening meals we would describe as 'gourmet' food with a choice to satisfy the most discerning guest. No it is not a buffet - it is waiter service of the highest professional quality !
The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of the town, but a shuttle runs twice a day every day to Siracuse/Ortigia town. The extensive grounds are a joy to walk around and the huge pool is tastefully designed like no other we have seen.
The large bedrooms are spotless, as are the bathrooms and whilst the public areas are quite small they too are nice and welcoming. Guisi is a 'hands on' owner and is seen around the hotel at all times of the day and evening discreetly ensuring everything runs smoothly.
We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone and everyone and will be planning a return in the not too distant future.

This was an exceptional place to relax near Siracusa. The grounds were exceptionally beautiful, with large expanses of green lawn, gorgeous pools. The owner and rest of staff were so welcoming and the meals were served in a facility draped in sheer white curtains, like something out of Arabian nights. Beautiful courtyard with lots of comfy resting places. The buffet breakfast would rival any top chef...so much to choose from. Comfy rooms and not all the same. Highly recommend if you want a relaxing spot while visiting this area.

Lovely resort in the countryside outside Siracusa

Excellent resort facilities, with pool, gym, table tennis. Lovely grounds. Comfortable rooms, although average size. Very good breakfast, with incredible variety and quantity of items on the buffet — although some items did not seem to be freshly made daily. Breakfast service was marred by odd delays in getting our coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially front desk welcome ( very useful briefing on resort amenities and tips for visiting area). Please note that the hotel is about 20 minutes drive from Ortigia, some of it through potholed and narrow country road. Nice peaceful setting, but limited dining options nearby.
