With over 1,800 pieces of artwork spread out between 45 halls and two floors, the Uffizi Gallery is an art lover’s dream. The gallery houses some of the most important paintings from the Renaissance period, including works by Botticelli, Giotto, Cimabue, Michangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Raffaello, with highlights including Fillippino Lippi's 'Madonna and Child with Two Angels', and Michelanglo's only painting in Florence - Doni Tondo.

A fascinating collection of self portraits can also be seen in the Vasari Corridor, which is open to the public by appointment or guided tour only. This once secret passage links the Uffizi to the Pitti Palace and runs above the Ponte Vecchio before finishing at the Baboli Gardens.

With such a vast collection to be seen, and as the most visited museum in Italy (along with the Vatican) it can get very busy and queues can be long so pre-booking is strongly recommended.

Opening hours: Daily (excluding Mondays, January 1st, May 1st and December 25th) 8.15am - 6.50pm

Prices: €8 per adult / €4 for European Union citizens aged 18-24 years / Free for European Union citizens aged under 18 years (please take a passport as proof of ID). Entry is free for the first Sunday of every month and tickets cannot be pre-booked.

*Prices and opening hours may be subject to change.
