Map of Day 1 - 2: London - Milan

You’ll catch a train from London to Paris, before transferring to the historic Gare de Lyon station. A high-speed train heads straight to Zurich, a pretty lakeside city in northern Switzerland.
The second day of travel will take you over the Swiss border into northern Italy. The train will pull into Milan, where you’ll stay a couple of nights.

Map of Day 3: Milan

Milan is a stylish city with a crown of cathedrals, art galleries and opera houses. Make sure to stroll down the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – an arched shopping arcade made for window shopping. Keep an eye on the calendar, too. There’s always something going on in Milan, from classical music festivals to Christmas markets.

Day 4: Milan - Rome

Please call one of our Italy experts to discuss your accommodation choices

Rome is only around three hours away from Milan by train. After disembarking, check into your chosen hotel and venture out into the centro storico (historic centre) to seek out a cosy trattoria for dinner.

Day 5 - 6: Rome

Please call one of our Italy experts to discuss your accommodation choices

Map of Day 5 - 6: Rome

Rome might not have been built in a day – but you can certainly see a lot in 48 hours. The big sights are all clustered together, so you can tick off Palatine Hill, the Colosseum and the Roman Forum one day, and move on to the Vatican City and its museums and chapels the next.
Avoid the crowds by heading to the neighbourhood of Ostiense, where the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls secrets itself away.

Day 7: Rome - Sorrento

You’re in easy reach of some of the best day trips in Italy, too – drives along the sky-scraping Amalfi Coast or history tours to Pompeii. On your last day, fuel up with a final cappuccino, before heading back to Naples for your flight home.
