Trauttmansdorff Castle is Merano’s star attraction, and one of the most exquisite buildings for miles around. Surrounded by the Trauttmansdorff Castle Gardens, the 14th-century castle is now home to the innovative Touriseum – a fun museum dedicated to the history of tourism in the region. This hands-on museum is full of quirky, interactive exhibitions, including a giant pinball machine which requires visitors to guide the ball through Merano’s history.

Outside, there are 80 individual gardens to explore, laid out along the hillside below Trauttmansdorff Castle. Recently awarded the International Garden of the Year Award, it's great for children as well as adults, with interactive 'experience stations' dotted throughout.

Opening hours: Open from 9am - 7pm from 1st April – 31st October, open from 9am – 5pm between 1st November and 15th November, and open from 9am - 11pm on Fridays in June, July and August.

Price: €12 per adult for a joint garden and Touriseum ticket / €8.50 per junior aged 6 – 18, guest with disability or student aged up to 29 for a joint garden and Touriseum ticket. Family tickets are available.
