Begin by entering the Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), it is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Venice but its rich history has helped shape how Venice is today. Originally built to be the home of the Doge (ruler of Venice) it later became the governmental building for the Republic of Venice and the Palace of Justice and is where the majority of important legally decisions were made. Next, admire the Byzantine art and beautiful gold mosaics that adorn the famous Golden Basilica (St. Mark’s Basilica) and learn about the rich history of this religious building.
