About the location
Located just a few miles from Como, Cernobbio is a typical Italian town, situated on the edge of the lake and just in front of the majestic Monte Bisbino. The name Cernobbio derives from an old convent, 'Coenobium', which was situated where the luxury Villa D'Este hotel can now be found.
While the town is largely made up of terracotta-roofed houses, it also boasts a range of impressive attractions, with La Via dei Monti Lariani – the region’s most spectacular footpath – being one of the best. Starting close to the town, this hiking trail follows an incredible 80-mile route through the foothills and peaks around the lake’s edge, and is a must-do, even if you only follow a small section of the trail. One of the town’s lesser-known gems is the beautiful Il Giardino della Valle (Valley Gardens), which can be found nestled in Mount Bisbino’s foothills.
There is a good selection of restaurants and cafes on offer, ranging from lively bars to busy gelaterie, and from authentic trattorie to classy modern restaurants. In terms of getting out and about, Cernobbio is just a short drive from Como, and close to many smaller towns strung along the lake’s shore.

Good stay in a quiet part of Lake Como and close to Como town

Had a good stay at Sheraton Lake Como. The hotel is located close to the lake and is only a 2.7 mile walk into Como. It is located a bit away from the main commercial area so it’s more quiet. The hotel has a really nice outdoor pool. The breakfast is really good with many options. The one nicest options we found was the self-serve juicer. Bed is extremely comfortable and we slept like a baby after traveling for 20 hours to get here without sleep. The walk to Como is pretty easy and pleasant, except for the overwhelming cars/bikes exhaust fume throughout most of the walkway. It can be busy on the weekend mornings as we saw a lot of runners and bikes sharing the same sidewalk with pedestrians. But it’s a great option if you like walking. There are also buses that take you into town. A huge supermarket is located adjacent to the property for easy access to groceries. The downside of this place is that there are very few restaurants around the area. But we did find one that served great food and very hospitable. We probably would skip this and Como next time and head straight to Menaggio next time. Menaggio seems to offer more restaurants and shops that are great for wandering about. And it’s close proximity to other main attractions like Bellagio makes it a great location to serve as base to visit Lake Como.

My family had an unfortunate experience with Sheraton Lake Como. Valuable jewelry belonging to a family member was misplaced during our stay. Despite being assured by the hotel that the items were located and would be safely shipped back, the received set was incomplete. The response from the hotel appeared nonchalant and lacked urgency. We had trusted Sheraton to address this issue professionally. Unfortunately, we now face an unresolved situation and the loss of cherished valuables.

Our son had stayed here a few years ago and liked it so we decided to try it. First let me say that we got a last minute reservation using 58k marriott points. I'm a Platinum Elite Member so when we arrived, we asked if we could get upgraded to a Terrace Room. The girl at the front desk said none available and we showed them it was available on their website. Low and Behold-it was available. Nice because it had a nice outdoor terrace with a table, plants and view of garden. They sent up a bottle of prosecco and a card for being Platinum Member. Nice size room with nice bathroom. Pool was nice and good size right on the property grounds. Ordered pizza, aperol spritz' at pool. These were delivered but nobody comes around to pool-you have to go up to bar to order anything. Wondering why no pool service. Only issue was it was right after rain, so swarm of flies drove everyone away. The bartender even commented on flies. The front desk wasn't very helpful re dinner reservations or restaurants. We asked to see a menu for the michelin restaurant in the hotel and they told us to look on website. Seriously! Finally the concierge showed it to us but sadly no reservation avl. We ended up taking ferry to town of Lake Como and eating at the restaurant at The Palace Hotel which was lovely. Ate at outdoor restaurant in Suisse Hotel in Bellagio that was amazing! The breakfast was one of the best we had and lots of attendants. I got lattes to go before breakfast and they were so helpful. The rates when we were here were over $600 which are overpriced for this location but if you can get it below $60k points a night, it's worth it. You can stay in Lake Como for $600 a night so better location. The taxi thing was crazy. They said we couldn't get a taxi back from Lake Como after 10 and no ferries after 8:30. But we just asked the hotel where we had dinner to call us one and no problem. We had the hotel arrange for a driver to Milan and that was perfect. We'll be back because this is a good family spot. Our son ate at the Michelin restaurant and liked it. We'll eat there next time. Hope to be back in May. Arrivaderci!

My family and I had a great stay here on holiday. The pool, private playground, and helpful staff were our favorite parts of our stay here.
The only issue we had (and reason for 4 stars instead of 5) was with the parking garage. We booked 2 rooms but only one of them was assigned to work with the parking garage entry/exit. Even with the working key, we had issues getting in/out. Upon checkout, we were double-charged for parking which he highlighted and the staff immediately fixed.
