- See the famous Catacombs and basilicas
- Walk down Appian Way as they would have in Roman times
- Guided tour
Enjoy the unique experience of a tour round the catacombs. Centuries ago the underground tunnels that form the catacombs were built as a solution to the high price of tombs above ground. It was also said that in these ancient underground cemeteries Christians used to hide to escape persecution.
You’ll also get to see the Holy Staircase and go inside the basilica of St. John in Lateran as well as seeing St. Mary Major basilica. You’ll make your way down Appian Way which was an ancient road built during Roman times that connected Rome to a town near Naples. Although only a small portion of it exists today it’s still fascinating to think you’re walking the same path as the Romans would have. Along this road you’ll pass the Chapel of Domine Quo Vadis before entering the Catacombs.
