Make the most of your trip by seeing Venice (capital of the Veneto region). Pre-book an excursion and cover a significant area with this Venice & Islands tour. You’ll start the day with a walking tour, taking in some of the main attractions like the Bridge of Sighs and Piazza San Marco, all before setting off to cruise around the Murano and Burano Islands, visiting the famous glass factories and pastel coloured painted houses, respectively. You will have time during the day to explore on your own and we recommend you do as the locals do and navigate using the bridges as waypoints.

Another early one today as you head towards Treviso, the neighbouring city of Venice. This exciting excursion will have you captivated throughout as you are guided down the cobbled streets alongside the River Sile, visiting the traditional medieval town along the way. A trip to Treviso wouldn’t be the same without sampling some of Italy’s finest wines, and where better to do this than the medieval Castle of Roncade – Enjoy this wine tasting experience and perhaps consider purchasing a bottle to indulge in after dinner back in Lido di Jesolo.

The day is yours to do with it as you please. After a couple of busy days sightseeing, why not take the time to recuperate some energy spent, in preparation for your next destination. There’s plenty of things to do to keep you occupied, too; apart from the obligatory tanning station commonly known as the beach, you can also enjoy a different type of experience on board the Jolly Roger – a pirate cruise that educates all age groups on what it takes to become a Pirate of the sea, the only thing missing is the rum, so why not head out for your last evening and enjoy a drink at one of the many bars that line the streets.

Day 6: Lido di Jesolo - Lake Garda

Bid farewell to Lido di Jesolo from the back seat of your private transfer, taking you to the rental car pick-up point in Venice Piazzale Roma. From here, you will start your journey headed north west to Italy’s largest lago, Lake Garda. Eagerly awaiting your arrival, within the town of Garda itself, will be the highly affable members of staff at the hotel of your choosing. Spend the remainder of your day making full use of the facilities that are at your disposal.

Day 7: Lake Garda

Lake Garda is renowned for its activity based experiences and the Gardaland amusement park is arguably one of the most popular attractions around the lake. To avoid the crowds and gain quicker access to some of the best rides, it’s worth arriving just before the park opens, allowing enough time to park up and purchase entrance tickets. In-between adrenaline filled rides, we recommend you obtain a pass to the Sea Life Aquarium, where you can enjoy gazing upon dozens of interesting sea creatures.

Day 8: Lake Garda

Map of Day 8: Lake Garda

Rise early for the most adventurous day yet. Drive north until you reach the stunning setting of Malcesine and do remember to look up towards the mountain range of Monte Baldo, because that’s where you’re headed. Hop on the rotating cable car and be rewarded with 360 degree views of Lake Garda, as you make the steady ascent to the top of the range. Once you’re feet are on firm ground, start hiking along the Peace Trail (hiking the whole trail might be a stretch as it’s over 300 miles long).

What goes up, must come down – take the return journey on the cable car and continue your drive further north to Cascata del Varone (3km northwest from Riva del Garda’s centre, in a town called Tenno). You will be forgiven for thinking that the chances of getting wet while in Italy (during the summer months) are slim, but if you were savvy enough to pack a rain coat then this is the time to use it. The Cascata del Varone is a series of spray-soaked walkways that wind through the mountain, alongside a thunderous 100 meter waterfall that crashes down the cliffs through a gorge. If you would prefer an early shower, there are several viewing platforms for you to stand at. The town of Tenno itself is sufficiently lacking in choice of food and drink establishments, however, there is a delightful gem of a Gelateria not far from the car park.

Day 9 : Lake Garda

Map of Day 9 : Lake Garda

Enjoy your last full day exploring the town of Garda, taking the opportunity to amble along the horseshoe shaped shoreline toward the verdant headland of Punta San Vigilio (approx. 3km north of Garda). The Parco Baia delle Sirene offers a peaceful escape from the busy town, with sun loungers aplenty, positioned under the restful palm trees. It doesn’t have to stop there, either, for there are a handful of smaller and quieter coves dotted around the area.

You will be spoilt for choice of restaurant when deciding where to have your last dinner in Italy; we suggest you try one of the many fish dishes that are likely to be on the menu as well as a crisp white wine –both of which are sourced locally from the lake or surrounding vineyards, respectively. Enjoy a post-dinner digestif of Limoncello as you watch the sunset over the lake.
