Grand Hotel Ambasciatori

Wonderful time thanks to a good team and a lovely location just a few minutes walk from the town centre with stunning views across the bay of Naples and Vesuvius. We had a partial sea room with small balcony and great view of the garden port. Room was bright and airy and bed was king (or bigger) and very comfortable. Could have done with a bit more draw space. The staff were attentive and pleasant. Giancarlo and the bar team were really great and put up with our hopeless attempts at ordering in Italian with good humour. The food and drink prices were on the high side not surprisingly for the 5 stars and location, but the quality and service made it worth it. I'm limited on food quantities post-surgery and was sharing meals with my wife . The restaurant team and chef were very understanding and divided portions for us so we didn't lose out on the beautiful meal presentation and I got to enjoy some excellent three course cuisine for the first time in ages. Good breakfast buffet; just wish I could have had more of it! Reception staff were very helpful. Sabrina recommended and organised a tour guide for our trip to Pompei which was very good. E (sorry couldn't read name badge properly) investigated the mystery of our missing BA airport transfer details. All in all I'm very glad we stayed.

Every space in this hotel is pristine and inviting, with a bright resort vibe. Our room was a vision in blue and white tile and yellow accents. The swimming pool is located on a spacious terrace along with table service for lunch and dinner and after dinner. You can also swim in the ocean by taking the elevator down to the hotel pier. Front desk staff were very helpful in giving us advice and helping us with a tour of Pompeii. Breakfast buffet was enormous, with omelettes and crepe options.

We spent 3 weeks traveling around Italy. My only regret was staying at this hotel. We had wonderful experience at every hotel but this one. The views are nice, and the breakfast was done well. However, the service was mixed. Some staff was very helpful and friendly, but others were not. We had a bad experience with one waiter in particular. After checkout and paying, they then reported we took something from the mini bar we did not. They quickly backed off the charge, but they continued to imply we took something we never used and never took from the minibar. We had minibars at all of the multiple hotels in Italy and never had any issues until we stayed here. We will not stay here again, and I would recommend the same for others . If you do stay here, I would take pictures of the minibar and be careful at checkout. There are far better choices in Sorrento where you will get more for your money.
