What do you love about Italy?
I love the culture and the atmosphere in Italy – I really enjoy being in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Italian towns and cities. And, of course, the cuisine and the wine!
Which are your favourite destinations and why?
Lipari – it was like a home away from home. The local people were very welcoming and the small, humble island was visibly untouched by tourism. I caught some stunning sunsets here, too – a perfect photo opportunity.
Any favourite hotels?
Definitely the Borgo Pantano, located in the countryside close to Syracuse. The service was what made my experience special – the staff were always very conscientious and considerate to all their guests, catering to every want or need.
What’s your favourite Italian dish?
A carbonara made with mature Pecorino and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheeses and eggs to create the classic creamy sauce. Then scattered with a few bits of sautéed Guanciale or Pancetta to complete the dish.
Most memorable meal you’ve had in Italy?
It has to be the meal I enjoyed at the restaurant II Covo del Pirata in Cefalu. There is something unforgettable about sitting right by the sea, listening to the waves and enjoying a delicious Bolognese with friends.
What would your dream multi-centre itinerary be?
My dream multi-centre holiday would be exploring all around Sardinia. The gorgeous white sandy beaches across the island are enough to convince me to go!
