How long have you worked for Citalia
How many times have you visited Italy?
I’ve visited Italy every year without fail since 1998. In fact, some years have been more than once.
Have you ever lived there?
I used to play softball for an Italian club team in Forli, which is in the Emilia-Romagna region, so I spent five seasons living in Italy.
What do you love about Italy?
I am a big foodie, so I love how the cuisine is so different depending which region you visit. I love everything about the Italian lifestyle, and how passionate they are about spending time with friends and family. Italians are so social and normally their social events involve food – which I love!
Do you have a favourite ‘hidden gem’?
Puglia is often overlooked in favour of Italy’s more iconic destinations, which is why I’ve chosen it as my favourite hidden gem. The coastline in this region is lovely, and almost untouched. As you travel along the coast you can view trulli houses and lemon and olive groves. The towns are small but full of character, each one home to pretty churches, shops and restaurants.
Describe your favourite memory of a trip to Italy.
My favourite memories of Italy are from when I was playing softball out there and experiencing the Italian lifestyle as a local. The team welcomed me with open arms and showed me around their country, which they are so proud of. The Italians are very family-oriented and have a huge passion for food (this is definitely where my passion stems from). Our days off, day and night, were spent going to the beach with friends and family. Today, I love going back and seeing them all, and taking my friends there to experience the area as I did.
