Day 1 UK - San Gimignano: After collecting your car at Pisa airport, head straight into the rural countryside and stay near the picturesque town of San Gimignano, famous for its 14 remaining medieval towers (see our collection of resorts and accommodations in Tuscany). Wander through the city's labyrinth of medieval streets and you will come across a variety of restaurants where you can sample some delicious Tuscan cuisine.
Day 2 San Gimignano - Siena: Drive to the medieval city of Siena and walk through the 17 contrade (boroughs), which compete against each other in the bi-annual horse race, Il Palio.
Day 3-4 Chianti Wine Region: Siena is an ideal base for those wanting to explore the Chianti wine region. Drive amongst the numerous vineyards and picturesque towns where you will have many opportunities to sample the local produce and find out more about how the wine is produced in the area.
Day 5 Siena - Florence: Enjoy the scenic drive to this Renaissance capital, check-in to your centrally located hotel (see our collection of hotels in Florence) and enjoy the city at your leisure. Florence boasts a vast number of museums, galleries and architectural delights, and during the summer months, you can relax in the Baboli Gardens (part of Palazzo Pitti).
Day 6 Florence: Spend the morning soaking up some more culture in Florence or head to Fiesole, which sits peacefully in the hills just above the city, and admire the stunning views of the Florence below.
Pre-book the Walking Tour of Florence for the afternoon, with Uffizi and explore the city's most fascinating attractions on foot including Palazzo Vecchio, the Cathedral with the Brunelleschi's Dome and the Baptistery with its famous Gates of Paradise. Day 7 Florence - Pisa - UK: Drive back to Pisa and visit its iconic Leaning Tower before dropping off your car at Pisa airport and heading back to the UK.
