Rome & Venice Holidays
Discover the cultural heritage of two historic cities, on a city break exploring the
ancient waterways of Venice and the ‘eternal city’ of Rome. Rome has an illustrious 3,000
history, and every street is filled with remains from the past, from the epic columns of
the Pantheon and crumbling steps of the Forum to the vast walls of the Vatican The piazzas
decked with flowers and fountains were for Federico Fellini, the home of ‘La Dolce Vita’
whilst Audrey Hepburn zoomed around the cobbled streets on a Vespa on her ‘Roman Holiday’.
Venice also has a wealth of iconic sites, from Palazzi to Baroque Domes and a unique
old-world atmosphere; Venice may be sinking, but its crumbling beauty is seductive. When
you are wearied by city life, a boat trip across the lagoon will take you to the
eight-mile beach of Venice Lido for a peaceful evening relaxing to the sound of the waves
and a beautiful sunset.
When in Rome, visitors toss a coin into the Trevi fountain to ensure their return,
but you will want to come back to both cities to rediscover the wealth of history along
their streets (or canals). To truly soak up the heritage of each city, we recommend the
Hotel Westin Europa Regina in Venice, with beautifully restored buildings dating from the
17th to 19th centuries, and the Hotel Forum in Rome, housed in a former monastery and
offering unrivalled views of the Roman Forum.
