About Lake Garda

The largest of the Italian Lakes, Lake Garda stretches between the Alps and the Dolomites, embracing a diverse scenery, ranging from low-lying countryside on its southern borders and rising to the north with perpendicular cliffs draped in pine forests. Sheltered in a natural suntrap, the area around Lake Garda enjoys a warm climate in which olive groves and lemon orchards flourish.

DESENZANO

From the southern banks of Lake Garda lies the charming town of Desenzano, gazing out over to the Alps. A network of piazze, al fresco cafés and boutiques contrast beautifully with its three large beaches.

GARDA

Once a fishing village, Garda has become a colourful holiday resort, much favoured by Italian holidaymakers and opera fans due to its proximity to Verona, as well as being greatly appreciated by wine connoisseurs who make frequent trips to neighbouring vineyards in Bardolino.

GARDONE RIVIERA

From its lush gardens a path snakes through densely wooded arbours of the Acquapazza valley. Gardone Riviera's lakeside promenade is lined with intellectual cafés and artistic trattorias offering the gracious charms of a bygone era.

GARGNANO

Set on the western shore of Lake Garda, Gargnano has been favoured by the rich and famous for many years and today this can be seen in the fine villas, palaces and beautiful gardens which still remain. The old town of Gargnano on the lake shore is dominated by a main square and a pretty small port.

LIMONE

Limone, as its name suggests, alludes to the first lemon orchards planted in Europe. It is a magical place with old fishermens houses, narrow winding streets and lemon groves dominating the shores.

MALCESINE

Malcesine, one of the most charming towns on Garda's eastern shore, nestled by olive groves and sage coloured hills. A funicular climbs up Monte Baldo where scenic walks can be enjoyed in summer on its famous ski slopes.

RIVA

SALO

Salò is a much sought after resort amongst informed cognoscenti offering an exciting choice of bars, cafés and inventive restaurants, specialising in regional dishes.

SIRMIONE

Set on a narrow promontory on the southern shore of Lake Garda, Sirmione is prized for its strategic location and gentle enchantments since ancient Roman times. At the entrance to the little town, which time seems to have passed by, rise the impressive fortifications of Rocca Scaligera.

TORBOLE

Torbole enjoys a privileged location between the north-west slopes of Monte Baldo and the mouth of the Sarca river. The area is favoured by windsurf enthusiasts and walkers who meet for cheerful refreshment at its quaint harbourside.

TREMOSINE
