About Hotel L'Approdo

The sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, bays and inlets characteristic of the Cilento coastline border the delightful grounds of Hotel L'Approdo, which is located on the edge of the National Marine Park Punta Licosa.

Exterior and interior whitewashed walls are adorned by lashings of vegetation and bougainvillea, and there is extensive seating under the shady, terraced roof from where you can watch the sun setting over the fishing boats returning home to the small harbour that lies in front of the hotel. Guest rooms are attractively decorated in a traditional Mediterranean style with neutral walls and colourful furnishings, and some with terraces that have breathtaking views over the Gulf of Salerno.

Local amenities, which include the supermarket (300 metres away), can be found in the nearby picturesque fishing village of San Marco di Castellabate. In addition to the wonderful walking in the surrounding areas, there is a horse riding school nearby and it is also possible to rent a small boat from Punta Licosa harbour. For a more active holiday you are ideally placed for exploring Cilento's ancient sights, or take advantage of the range of sporting activities available at the hotel.

About Cilento

The headland of Cilento, south of Naples is an untouched conservation area threaded with monasteries and medieval towns. It's impressive cliffs and golden beaches are characterized by an untouched, rugged beauty that oozes southern authenticity.

PAESTUM
Paestrum was originally called Poseidonia, City of Poseidon, and was the most important Ancient Greek site before Sicily. This landmark of the Ancient world is now host to a fascinating archaeological museum and a collection of immaculately preserved Doric temples, sure to quench the desire of the most passionate history enthusiast.

SAN MARCO & SANTA MARIA DI CASTELLABATE
These two quaint fishing villages, attached by an endless stretch of golden sand, also share such charming sights as impressive caverns filled with pre-historic stalagmites and stalactites, and are both overlooked by hills embedded with ancient hilltop towns.

PALINURO
The area is celebrated for it's unspoilt stretch of beaches, but Palinuro is also a gourmand's paradise, with an abundance of restaurants that dish up sumptuous but inexpensive cuisine, and the rugged hills lavished with vineyards, producing the areas finest wine. Those in search of culture, and some spectacular cloisters should make the short drive from Salerno to Padula, where the monastery of Certosa di San Lorenzo lies sprawling amongst the pine trees.
