About Hotel Sonia

The traditional, family-run Hotel Sonia enjoys a superb position in the centre of Santa Maria di Castellabate, right on the edge of the sandy Marina Piccola beach. Its unique beachfront location in the heart of a delightful town means Hotel Sonia is also near to interesting sights such as the 17th century Torre Perrotti and the 13th century Palazzo Belmonte.

Fresh greens and crisp yellows have been used in recently decorated guest rooms, and the hotel's restaurant serves a good choice of local specialities including fresh fish that has been stone baked. Alternative dishes can also be prepared on request. The restaurant has a wonderful terrace that stretches out onto the sandy beach, where a snack bar is available, and the local Restaurant Taverna di Mare can be found. Hotel guests have complimentary use of umbrellas and deckchairs.

Just around the corner of the beach lies the archetypal, picturesque little harbour, where you can see the local fishermen in their colourful fishing boats untie the nets at the end of the day. The longer, main beach is only a 2 minute stroll away.

About Cilento

PAESTUM
Paestrum was originally called Poseidonia, City of Poseidon, and was the most important Ancient Greek site before Sicily. This landmark of the Ancient world is now host to a fascinating archaeological museum and a collection of immaculately preserved Doric temples, sure to quench the desire of the most passionate history enthusiast.

SAN MARCO & SANTA MARIA DI CASTELLABATE
These two quaint fishing villages, attached by an endless stretch of golden sand, also share such charming sights as impressive caverns filled with pre-historic stalagmites and stalactites, and are both overlooked by hills embedded with ancient hilltop towns.

PALINURO
The area is celebrated for it's unspoilt stretch of beaches, but Palinuro is also a gourmand's paradise, with an abundance of restaurants that dish up sumptuous but inexpensive cuisine, and the rugged hills lavished with vineyards, producing the areas finest wine. Those in search of culture, and some spectacular cloisters should make the short drive from Salerno to Padula, where the monastery of Certosa di San Lorenzo lies sprawling amongst the pine trees.
