About Amalfi Coast

Italy's most spectacular stretch of coastline with steep-stepped Positano, clinging to tall cliffs; Amalfi with its whitewashed villas, fisherman's dwellings, merchant town houses and luxury hotels that overlook sapphire coloured seas; and beautiful Ravello, whose lofty setting offers inspirational views.

AMALFI

Amalfi sits in the ravine of the Valle dei Mulini. Its churches, towers and arcaded houses are grouped together with attractive irregularity, rising above a small harbour. The town's Duomo dominates a long flight of steps and embraces a colourful piazza around which, and stretching to its seafront, narrow streets are interspersed with tempting pasta and pizza restaurants and lively cafes.

MAIORI

Maiori was founded during the Roman Empire when the fashion was for the aristocracy to have a villa by the coast. Today, it is the largest seaside resort on the Amalfi Coast, with a long promenade lined with beach bars and restaurants, and a long stretch of volcanic beach.

CONCA DEI MARINI

Close to Amalfi is Conca dei Marini, a town which is set on the promontory that looks to the left over a little natural inlet and to the right over the inlet of the Emerald Grotto.
