We recommend spending your first full day in Venice embarking on one of our walking tours of Venice, in order to get a feel for the famously romantic city. The walk will pass by some of Venice’s greatest attractions, taking in the delights of the Golden Basilica, Clock Tower and The Doge's Palace with ease. From St. Mark's Square, you will be guided through the maze of back-streets to the churches of Santa Maria Formosa and San Giovanni e Paolo, passing by Marco Polo's house on your way to the bustling Mercerie, Venice's main shopping street. The tour culminates in a return to St. Mark's Square, where it’s typical to sip coffee in one of the stylish pavement cafes that line the piazza. Those wishing to look deeper into Venetian history can pre-book an extended tour to include entrance into the Golden Basilica and/ or the Doge's Palace for the same day.

Today you embark on the next leg of the holiday, as you catch the train to Florence (approx. 2-3 hours) where you will find your hotel and get a first glimpse of this stunning Renaissance city. Spend the rest of the afternoon in heading to the Piazza Della Signoria, and exploring the thriving streets around this central hub.

Today you will be departing beautiful Florence, and catching a train to Rome (approx. 1.5 hours).Check in to your hand-picked hotel before heading out and exploring Italy’s Eternal City. Enjoy the 16th century architecture around the Spanish Steps and visit the house of Keats near the Piazza di Spagna for some literary history before heading to one of the great nearby restaurants in time for your first Roman meal.

St. Peter's Basilica opens early so start here to make the most of your day; climb the steps of the cathedral to view Rome's spectacular cityscape or venture within to admire some of the stunning frescoes inside. Spend the afternoon exploring the vibrant surroundings of the Piazza Navona, and finish by dining with the locals in one of the characteristic trattorias where you will experience the 'real' Rome.

Take a journey back in time to 80AD and discover the splendour of the classic Roman Empire with the pre-bookable Ancient Rome and Colosseum Excursion. Start the day with a guided tour of the evocative ruins of the Roman Forum, followed by a visit to the largest amphitheatre in the world, The Colosseum. Direct flights to Venice Marco Polo airport (VCE) are available from Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, London City, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Luton, Manchester, Newcastle and Southend and take approximately 2 hours. Transfers from the airport are by water taxi or water bus and take approximately 40 minutes to reach the centre of Venice.

Direct flights to Venice Treviso airport (TSF) depart from London Stansted, Leeds Bradford, Bristol and East Midlands and take approximately 2 hours.
