Map of Day 1: UK – Sorrento

After arriving in Naples, we’ll have a private transfer waiting to take you along the coast to your chosen hotel in Sorrento. For your first evening, get your bearings with a wander around the old town, where you’ll also find the best pick of Sorrento’s restaurants. If you’re after a traditional dish, look out for anything alla Sorrentina, which will be served with fresh tomatoes, olive oil, basil and sometimes mozzarella.

Day 2: Amalfi Coast

Points of Interest

Fill up with a few cornetti at breakfast – you’ll be tackling the Amalfi Coast today. Our full-day Amalfi Drive excursion starts by taking you across the Sorrentine peninsula to join the famous coast road (if you can, get a seat on the right-hand side of the coach for the best views). Keep your camera out as you pass through pastel-coloured villages like Positano, Praiano and Conca dei Marini.

Once you reach Amalfi, it’s time to stretch your legs and explore the cobbled streets and grand cathedral. From here, you’ll head up into the hills for lunch in Scala and a visit to lofty Ravello, a town which boasts some of the most spectacular views in Italy.

Day 3: Pompeii & Mount Vesuvius

Please call one of our Italy experts to discuss your accommodation choices

Points of Interest

Map of Day 3: Pompeii & Mount Vesuvius

Today kicks off with a guided tour of Pompeii, the Roman resort town buried in ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD. After you’ve strolled past the town’s preserved villas, temples and baths, you’ll have a pit-stop for lunch, before heading up the slopes of Vesuvius itself. The coach will take you to 1,000 metres up, and you’ll journey the rest of the way up to the crater on foot. Once you’re at the top, you’ll be rewarded with widescreen views over the Bay of Naples.

Day 4: Sorrento

Take some time to explore Sorrento today – shop for limoncello and handmade sandals in the old town, stroll around the romantic Cloisters of San Francesco or pull up a chair in Piazza Tasso for coffee and a spot of people-watching. One of our favourite places for dinner is the old port, Marina Grande. It’s a tucked-away cove with a handful of lovely trattorie serving fresh seafood and pasta dishes.

Day 5: Capri

Please call one of our Italy experts to discuss your accommodation choices

Points of Interest

A short hop by hydrofoil lands you on Capri – we’ll get you there nice and early, so you’ll have plenty of time to get to know the island. You’ll explore the boutique-lined lanes in Capri Town and admire the postcard views from Anacapri and the Caesar Augustus Gardens, plus there’s the option to take a boat out to the Blue Grotto or tour the stunning gardens of Villa San Michele.

Day 6: Herculaneum

Please call one of our Italy experts to discuss your accommodation choices

Points of Interest

Map of Day 6: Herculaneum

This morning, you’ll head to Herculaneum for a guided tour of this ancient Roman town. Buried in lava during Vesuvius’ big eruption, its lavish villas and mosaic-tiled floors have been remarkably well preserved. It’s a half-day excursion, so you’ll be back in Sorrento around lunchtime for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 7: Ischia

Please call one of our Italy experts to discuss your accommodation choices

Points of Interest

Your final full day on the Neapolitan Riviera will take you to the island of Ischia, known for its thermal spas, botanical gardens and sandy beaches. After arriving on the island mid-morning, you’ll have a guided bus tour of the island’s best bits (keep your camera handy), followed by a visit to the famous Mortella Gardens. Spend a few hours admiring the fountains, sculptures and rare plants, before heading back to Sorrento for one last evening.
