Not all destinations are created equal, and the spectacular Amalfi Coast is a tangible example of this. Stretching for just 34 miles, this jaw-dropping slither of Italy is perhaps the country’s most beautiful, dominated by soaring ocean cliffs and extraordinarily pretty seaside towns scattered along its length. It’s not a cheap place to visit, and is only accessible by road or boat as railways were deemed impossible by architects, but the mesmerising sights awaiting your arrival will more than make up for these tiny qualms.

We’d probably suggest Amalfi as a main point of visit, as this town is regularly named the best on the coast thanks to its ancient duomo and breathtaking sandy beachfront. There are plenty of other towns worth exploring however, including the hilltop town of Ravello where every street has a view, and Maiori, home to the coast’s longest beach. The Amalfi Coast is an incredible destination full of hidden gems dotted along zig-zag roads and soaring cliffs plunging into azure waters, and truly needs to be seen to be believed.
