Today you will say goodbye to Rome, heading for Venice via train. Start at the Roma Termini train station – Rome main station, and embark on the dramatic journey to Italy’s famous ‘floating city’ (approx. 3 hours 40 minutes). On arrival, take a traditional water taxi to your chosen hotel, before heading into the labyrinth of canals and alleyways in order to enjoy a classic Venetian meal, and to discover hidden churches and architectural treasures.

Take the half day Lagoon Islands Tour and get a taste of three of Venice's most interesting islands. Sail past the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, the gardens of St. Elena and the lido before arriving at Murano, famous for its glass making. Here, you will have the opportunity see how glass is still traditionally blown at a working factory, before heading onwards to the picturesque fishing community of Burano and the barren island of Torcello home to Venice's first cathedral and a mere 100 inhabitants.

During your last day in Venice, we recommend immersing yourself in the history of one of the city’s most popular attractions – The Doge's Palace. Here, the ancient Venetian Republic exerted control over the city, and the legendary Casanova was once jailed. Follow in the footsteps of the long-gone as you cross the Bridge of Sighs and venture into the New Jail. After your visit, head to of St. Mark's Basilica, also known as the Golden Basilica, and admire the beautiful mosaics and marble inlay floors. For an extra-special last evening, dine riverside by the Grand Canal.

The majority of international flights arrive into Rome Fiumicino airport (FCO), which is approximately 45 minutes from the centre of Rome. Direct flights to Fiumicino are available from Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Jersey, Leeds, London City, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Luton, London Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle and take approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.

Direct flights to Rome Ciampino airport (CIA), which is approximately 30 minutes from the centre of Rome, depart from London Stansted, Edinburgh, Manchester, East Midlands and Glasgow and take approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.
