After arriving in Rome and checking in to your hotel, head out into the ancient streets for your first taste of the ‘Eternal City’. Today, leave Rome and head for the Tuscan hills. Collect your car and drive across the stunning rural landscape into the heart of the Tuscan countryside, before stopping near to the medieval hilltop town of Siena (approx. 2.5 hours). Siena is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its stunning fan-shaped Piazza del Campo, and its enormous Gothic Duomo with its black and white striped bell tower and intricate carvings and statues. Spend your first evening in Tuscany dining at one of the town centre’s many popular trattorie.

Use Siena as a base for exploring the rest of the Tuscan region over the next few days. A short drive away is the town of San Gimignano (approx. 45 minutes), famous for its 14 soaring medieval towers, and packed with craft shops and authentic restaurants, whilst Tuscany’s spectacular capital – Florence – is around an hour away, and jam-packed with stunning sights. From Brunelleschi’s world-famous duomo to the glamour of the high-end shopping streets, Florence is a versatile location with enough to see and do visitors of nearly all ages. The area around Florence and Siena is also part of the Chianti wine region; take the opportunity to visit one of the numerous vineyards and sample some local produce.

Finish your Tuscan adventure by driving to Pisa International Airport (approx. 2 hours from Siena). Drop off your car, head inside and board your flights back home. Make sure you leave enough time to quickly stop at Pisa’s famous leaning tower.
