  • Queue-jump tickets to the Borghese Gallery
  • Guided tour by a local expert
  • Walk through Borghese Gardens

Housed in a stunning 17th-century villa, the Borghese Gallery is one of our favourite art galleries in Rome. The sculptures and paintings are a private collection first formed by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, and are beautifully displayed across the villa’s two floors (sculptures on the ground floor, paintings on the upper floor).

Your guided tour will start first thing (9:00am) and includes queue-jump tickets, so you’ll get to head straight in. An art expert will lead your small group around the villa, pointing out pieces by masters like Caravaggio, Bernini, Botticelli and Titian and explaining the history behind them. The villa’s interior is an attraction in itself, particularly the ground floor, where rooms feature ornate gilded ceilings, frescoes and mosaic floors.

After the tour is finished, you’ll head out into the Borghese Gardens, one of Rome’s loveliest parks. Your guide will lead you through the gardens to the Pincio Terrace, a viewpoint which offers up panoramic views of the city. Your excursion ends here.

We say: “This is a great option for anyone interested in art. A walk through the Villa Borghese gardens is one of my favourite things to do in Rome – after the tour, I’d recommend visiting nearby Piazza del Popolo for an aperitif in Bar Rosati or Bar Canova.” Stefano Nirta, Regional Purchasing Manager
