  • Experience Siena’s UNESCO-listed sites and beautiful architecture
  • Visit the hilltop medieval fortress of Monteriggioni
  • Tour a Chianti wine cellar with the chance to taste local wines

This full-day tour combines the world-renowned wine regions of Chianti with a stop in the lesser-known medieval city of Siena.

The day begins in Chianti, a region rightly known for its vineyards - but there is plenty more to discover here than wine. Your first stop is the magnificent Monteriggioni, a medieval town enclosed within huge walls and lined with a total of 14 towers. The fortress balances on a hilltop, with panoramic views out across Tuscany. You'll have time to take a stroll around its beautiful old piazzas, stop for a cappucino or gelato and browse the local shops for something typically Tuscan to bring home.

Next, it's time to experience Chianti's best-known offering: its wine. You'll learn about the stages of wine production in the region on a visit to local wine estates, and get the chance to taste some wines. The tastings are paired with some delicious regional fare including sliced cold meats and bruschetta.

Once you've tasted your fill, it's onto Siena. This is one of Tuscany's loveliest cities, home to spectacular Gothic architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage-listed centro storico (old town). You'll see Siena's most important palazzos and piazzas including Piazza del Campo, site of the famous Palio di Siena horse race. Finally, you'll finish the tour with a light dinner while you enjoy watching the sun set over the Tuscan scenery, before the return journey to Florence.
