Suggested Itinerary

Day 1: UK - Lake Como

Please call one of our Italy experts to discuss your accommodation choices

Map of Day 1: UK - Lake Como

Your journey starts off in elegant Lake Como, where you will spend seven nights. You’ll stay right on the lakeside in Menaggio – head down to the water for on your first evening to watch the sun set.

Days 2-6: Lake Como

Map of Days 2-6: Lake Como

Your relaxed week in Lake Como can involve leisurely strolls around the cobbled streets of the town, stopping off at coffee shops and restaurants as you go.

Take a day away from the lake to visit Italy’s fashion capital, Milan. The heart of this cosmopolitan city is the impressive Duomo. Of course, no visit would be complete with venturing through the Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II, one of the world’s first shopping malls.

To make the most of this part of your trip, enjoy our St. Moritz & Bernina Express day trip. This unique train journey takes you into Switzerland, where you can soak up the views of the stunning mountain scenery on your way to St. Moritz (look out for the White Lake and the Black Lake along the way).

Day 7: Lake Como - Verona

Please call one of our Italy experts to discuss your accommodation choices

Today, you wave goodbye to this stunning lake as you make your journey to the city. Head for Verona, a city full of romance and history. This evening, wander over to the central square, Piazza delle Erbe, for dinner or a glass of wine (or two – Soave and Valpolicella are both local names). If you’re visiting during the summer months, you might even be able to hear the sounds of the opera coming from the famous amphitheatre that dominates the square.

Days 8-9: Verona

Please call one of our Italy experts to discuss your accommodation choices

Map of Days 8-9: Verona

Although Verona is a fairly small city compared to the likes of Rome, a couple of days are definitely needed to make the most of it. Visit attractions such as the Piazzale Castel San Pietro and pop in and out of the shops down Via Mazzini.

“Make sure you rest your feet at Via Mazzini 27, a little restaurant which is a favourite with locals. You won’t be disappointed with the wine list.” Melissa

Day 10: Verona - Merano

Please call one of our Italy experts to discuss your accommodation choices

Map of Day 10: Verona - Merano

Your final stop on your Italian adventure is Merano, a chocolate-box town at the foot of the Dolomites Mountains.

Days 11-12: Merano

Grab your walking boots, as Merano’s surrounding countryside has fantastic hiking trails. Leading you up into the hills, you can enjoy stunning views of the town below as you walk past wildflower meadows and vineyards. For a well-earned rest, within Merano town itself you have the famous thermal baths. Boasting 25 indoor and outdoor pools, it’s the perfect place to relax and rest your feet after a morning of hiking.
