Verbania is a fantastic destination for those wanting to experience all that Lake Maggiore has to offer. It is the largest town on the lake and with breath-taking views and scenery as well as plenty of places to explore it makes a versatile destination. One of Verbania’s districts – Pallanza, sits on the edge of the lake and is considered the old part of town, its charming cobbled streets and historic buildings exude character and appeal.
Being the largest town on Lake Maggiore there are plenty of ferries that link to other towns, Stresa for example, sits just across from Verbania and here you can explore the beautiful Borromeau islands, known as the “Jewels” of Lake Maggiore, famous for their gardens and wealthy villas. Alternatively you could take a trip on the Mottarone cable car where you’ll get wonderful views across the Lake.
Villa Taranto is one of Verbania’s most famous attractions. Bought by Captain Mc Eacharn in the 1930s, the Villa became known for its rare and unique plants sourced from all corners of the globe. The villa itself is not open to the public but the gardens are a beautiful display of design, colour and flora.
