The district of Toscolano – Maderno is a beautiful area set on the edge of Lake Garda and combines the two towns of Toscolano and Maderno. Its dramatic, mountainous landscape coupled with charming architecture and breathtaking lake views make it a popular destination to visit.
If you’re wanting to explore the town, one of the best places to start is to walk the promenade that sits along the lakeside. Admire the stunning views and take advantage of the restaurants and cafes that sit along the shore line. The town of Maderno is particularly quaint and charming, with many historic buildings, including the church of S. Andrea which sits on the edge of the lake.
One of the town’s most popular attractions is Valle delle Cartiere. The museum sits on the outskirts of town and if you’re feeling ambitious, it makes a lovely walk. The museum documents the history of paper production which used to be the town’s main industry. The converted factory showcases its original paper mills and information is available in numerous languages. The town also has plenty of shops and restaurants serving local produce. If you’re in the town on a Thursday, there is often a market which sells local products as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. Even if you’re not buying, it’s an impressive display and a great atmosphere.
