Today, you will embark on our fantastic Chianti and Siena tour. This full-day experience combines the gorgeous wine regions of Chianti with a stop in medieval Siena. There will be plenty of opportunity to sample the local wines, as well as learn all about the techniques used to make them. In Siena, explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed centro storico (old town), home to beautiful palazzos and piazzas.

It’s then back to Florence, where tonight we recommend you head up to the rooftop at the Grand Hotel Baglioni. Claiming one of the best views of the Duomo and across the city, the sunset here is perfect with an aperitif in hand.

Florence has wonderful museums and art galleries to wander around, in particular the Uffizi Gallery and Galleria Dell’Accademia. Wave goodbye to Florence as you make your way to Monterosso, one of the five colourful towns that make up the Cinque Terre. Monterosso is the biggest of the five, so this afternoon, spend time enjoying its restaurants, shops and bars before retiring to the Hotel Porto Roca.

Monterosso is an ideal location for those who enjoy walking, as there are many trails within the Cinque Terre National Park. Days can be spend visiting the remaining four villages, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, either by hiking between them, catching the local train or hopping on the ferry.

One day, you could head to Portofino. This pretty coastal town is renowned for its glamour – expect high-end shopping (think Gucci) and fine-dining restaurants. When you arrive, grab a caffe and people-watch at the waterfront.

Day 8: Cinque Terre - Lake Como
