Map of Day 1: UK - Cefalu

You’ll start your Sicilian adventure by picking up your car and beginning in Cefalu, a beautiful coastal town that was formally a fishing village. On your first day why not get to know your surroundings and take a stroll around the main centre or indulge in a gelato in one of the piazzas.

Day 2 - 6: Cefalu

Map of Day 2 - 6: Cefalu

Cefalu is rich in history and there is plenty to explore. One of the most popular historical sites is La Rocca which is positioned at the top of the mountain overlooking Cefalu. With plenty of steps and steep hills this is not an easy walk, however, you will be rewarded with breath-taking views of the city below and the sea in the distance.
If you want your holiday to take a more relaxed approach then you may want to unwind on Cefalu's sandy beach – Lungomare. The large expanse of sand makes for the perfect place to relax and admire the coastal views.
For a truly authentic Sicilian experience there is a morning of traditional cooking on offer. Guided by a chef in an authentic restaurant in the little village of Sant’Ambrogio you’ll create a traditional four course Sicilian feast. You’ll be using fresh and local ingredients, learning tips and tricks that you can remember when returning to your own kitchen. The best part of the experience has to be enjoying the food you've created!
After enjoying an authentic Sicilian cooking experience why not explore the town and visit the Duomo which is Cefalu’s Cathedral. If you get the chance to go inside you’ll see the beautifully detailed mosaics which tower over the altar. Another unique site in Cefalu is the Lavatoio Medievale which during ancient times was a place where people would come and wash their clothes. The well preserved building gives a flavour of what everyday life was like back then.

Points of Interest

It’s your last night in Cefalu and after a busy few days why not take part in an excursion and watch the sunset on Mount Etna (available during certain months of the year). This unique experience is a wonderful way to round off your time in Cefalu.

Map of Day 9 - 10: Palermo

Palermo is a brilliant city to wander around, with beautiful buildings as well as coastal views there is plenty to see and do. One of the most notable buildings to visit is the Palermo Cathedral, built in the 12th century it is a decadent display of architecture and stylistically is a real mixture of movements.

For a unique experience (which may not appeal to all) there is the Catacombs of Capuchins, you’ll find these deep in the medieval streets of Palermo, today it holds one of the largest collections of mummies set in a vast network of passages.

The Teatro Massimo is the final must see when in Palermo with its gold guilded interior contrasting the rich red of the seating areas it makes for an opulent display. With six levels of seating it is certainly an impressive sight.
