Verona Opera Festival is one of the most impressive, long-standing events in Italy. Taking place each year in Shakespeare’s city of Verona, the summer-long festival is hosted in a magnificent 1st-century Roman amphitheatre, which houses 20,000 open-air seats.
The festival is generally held between June and August, with performances taking place in the evenings when the temperatures have cooled and the city is at its most atmospheric. Past operas have included the likes of Carmen, Aida, La Traviata and Madame Butterfly, with full schedules released in advance.
