Italian Opera Holidays

Having the opportunity to experience a live operatic performance in Italy is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Opera originated in Italy at the end of the 16th century and was founded by a group of Florentine intellectuals who became known as the Camerata who wanted to combine music and theatre to be like Greek drama. Opera has become a musical art form which has two sides to it. On one hand, it is sombre touching on death and love lost. On the other, it’s playful and light with a dash of dramatic talent.
