Hi, my name’s Rosetta and I cover Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.
My family are originally from the south of Italy, but when I first joined Citalia in 2004 I was based in the north, on Lake Garda. From there, I moved to Venice, then Florence, then Rome, before finally settling in Sorrento nine years ago.
This area is such a beautiful part of Italy. Even though I’ve been here for almost 10 years, I still let out a sigh as I drive along the Amalfi Coast and see those spectacular views. Sorrento is a great base to visit all the different attractions (Capri, Pompeii, Naples), but the one thing I’d recommend above everything would be a trip along the Amalfi Coast.
A traditional dish to try here would be parmigiana di melanzane, which is a lasagne made with layers of aubergine instead of pasta. Also, look out for anything alla Sorrentina (Sorrento style), which will be made with lovely fresh tomatoes (usually grown at the foot of Vesuvius), nice olive oil, a little bit of basilico (basil) and perhaps mozzarella.
