My name’s Hollie, and I am the concierge for Lake Garda and the Dolomites. I’ve lived in Italy for the last six years.
What I love about Lake Garda and the Dolomites is it’s such a versatile region. It’s really diverse in the things you can choose to do there. The lake itself is a fantastic place to come and stay, but if you fancy you can go up to the Dolomites – you can be there in a matter of hours. Also, if you fancy city breaks as well they’re really close by, you’ve got Venice and Verona. There’s a lot of things you can do independently there, which is nice – people can get around and explore and find things that you wouldn’t usually find.
I really love walking in this area. I love Italian food, and there are a lots of agriturismos here, which are local farm inns. You can eat there, and they often produce the food and wine on-site, so it’s really good quality – and the price is really good too! I really like the local rich stews with polenta. Polenta’s really typical of the north, so that’s definitely something to try.
The Dolomites is an area of absolute beauty – it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world. They were formed from an old coral formation, so in the sunlight you can see all of the different colours, so they’re a bit of a miracle! Fantastic for any nature lovers, walkers, and food enthusiasts as well – try the local strudel and goulash.
