My name is Dany and I look after the Tuscany coast and Liguria.
I’m actually from Brescia, which is just by Lake Garda. I moved down to Viareggio on the Tuscany coast in 2010, and I’ve been there ever since. I love being by the sea; there’s a long coast here and lots of small historical towns – it’s like being in an open-air museum, and the atmosphere is great. And also the food – I love seafood, which helps!
My favourite hidden gem in Tuscany is a small medieval town called Pietrasanta. It’s quite popular with Italians so it gets really lively, especially in the evening, has an artistic feel with lots of small art galleries around.
On the Tuscany Coast we have Viareggio, which is a very historic liberty town, so it has a nice promenade with liberty-style buildings. Then we have a place like Forte dei Marmi, a very upmarket place, so it’s very well kept with nice restaurants. There are lots of Italian jetsetters around there, so it’s really nice.
One place I really like in Liguria is Sestre Levante. It has a peninsula and two bays that are really nice; one of them is called the Bay of Silence, and the sea there is fantastic – it’s really beautiful. You can actually go up the mountain to see it from up there, and the views are incredible.
